A Moment In Time!
Reflection:
For our moment in time project we had to choose a moment in our life that was important to us or that changed our life and made us who we are now. We had to make it a brief story because we could only use one page to tell our special moment. Our story has to represent us well and we had to bring our story to life and be very descriptive so that the reader could feel the emotions we were going through in our story. The moment had to be special to us not just any moment. We had to make sure we changed afterwards.
A good story has to have detail. Detail is so important. You have to make sure the reader knows how you felt and what was around you so they can picture the story clearly. The more descriptive you are the better. You also have to have a climax a part where the readers want to hold on to every word you write. Something that makes them want to keep reading. I would say we tell stories because it’s fun to hear and tell everyone those special moments in your life it reminds you of the good times or sad. I think narrative writing will help me grow as a writer because it shows me to be descriptive and making sure the readers understand what’s going on. It’s important that the story is clear and not super confusing.
Something difficult about this project was probably making it fit on to one page. There is so much to write down but you only have one page to do it. Especially with all the detail we had to include, it was hard to cut it down but eventually I made it. If I could change anything about the way I wrote my story it would probably be the ending. Everyone had an awesome ending to their story or had a creative way to wrap there story up and I think I could have done something better then what I had. I like how I ended off with the quote but instead of saying, "after that day I realized..." I could have come up with something better.
I really liked this project it was nice going "back in time" and remembering that moment. Throughout this project I learned that being descriptive and having a climax and a bomb ending is key to a good story. It helped me become a better writer personally and I feel more confident with my writing then I have ever felt before in the past. My story also reminded me to be a risk taker and that has helped me as a person to step out of my comfort zone. I am so excited for this class I feel like I have much to work on and I’m sure this class will help me up my game and make me a better writer.
